Our commitment
Summit Moving Pros believes that everybody deserves to access information about moving, request a quote, and book a move without barriers. This applies to our website and to the physical moving services we provide.
This accessibility statement is a real statement — not a marketing claim. It describes what we've done, what we haven't done yet, and where we know the site still falls short. We update it after every accessibility audit.
Standard we follow
Our target is Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA — the internationally recognized standard published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 AA is the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidance and by Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
The four guiding principles of WCAG are that content must be:
- Perceivable — information must be presented in ways all users can perceive (text alternatives for images, sufficient contrast, adaptable layouts)
- Operable — interface components must be operable by keyboard, screen reader, voice control, and other assistive technology
- Understandable — content and interface behavior must be predictable and readable
- Robust — content must work reliably with current and future assistive technologies
We aim for conformance at Level AA across all pages of this website, and we conduct both automated and manual audits to verify that.
Measures we've taken
Every page of this website is designed and built with accessibility in mind from the start. Specific measures we've implemented include:
Structure & semantics
- Semantic HTML5 landmarks (`
`, ` - One `
` per page and logical heading hierarchy throughout
- Proper `
- Descriptive `alt` text on all meaningful images; decorative images marked with empty `alt`
- ARIA labels on buttons, toggles, tabs, and other interactive components
Keyboard & assistive technology
- Every interactive element reachable and operable by keyboard alone
- Visible focus indicator (coral outline) on all focusable elements
- Skip-to-content link available on every page for keyboard and screen reader users
- ARIA `aria-expanded`, `aria-selected`, and `aria-current` states maintained for interactive controls
- Escape key closes modals, drawers, and mobile menus
Visual design
- Body text meets WCAG AA contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against background
- Large text and headings meet a contrast ratio of at least 3:1
- Content reflows cleanly at 320px width and at 200% browser zoom without horizontal scrolling
- No reliance on color alone to convey information
- Text remains readable with browser font-size overrides up to 200%
Motion & media
- All animated elements (marquees, transitions) respect the `prefers-reduced-motion` media query
- No content flashes more than three times per second
- No auto-playing audio or video
Forms
- Every field has a visible, persistent label — no placeholder-only fields
- Error messages are announced to screen readers via `aria-live` regions
- Autocomplete attributes set on standard fields (name, email, phone, address)
- Form submission is never the only way to reach us — phone and email always available
Current conformance
Our most recent audit was completed on January 10, 2026 by an independent third-party accessibility firm. Here's where we stand by WCAG principle:
| WCAG Principle | Level AA Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Perceivable | Fully conformant | All text alternatives, contrast ratios, and text-resizing requirements met |
| Operable | Fully conformant | All interactive components keyboard accessible; no keyboard traps |
| Understandable | Substantially conformant | Two minor form-validation messaging improvements in progress (see Section 5) |
| Robust | Fully conformant | Valid HTML5, correct ARIA usage, tested across NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver |
Automated testing tools used: axe DevTools, Lighthouse Accessibility, WAVE, and Pa11y. Manual testing was conducted with NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), and TalkBack (Android).
Known limitations
We want to be transparent about the specific issues we're still working on. As of January 15, 2026, the following limitations exist:
Interactive map (service areas page)
The Leaflet-based map on our service areas page is not fully accessible to screen readers. Every city, ZIP code, and service zone displayed on the map is also listed as plain text below the map, and a full text list is available on the Service Areas page. If you need information only available visually on the map, call us and we'll provide it.
Form validation messaging
Form validation errors on our quote and contact forms appear visually and are announced to screen readers, but the specific error text is currently announced after a short delay. We're working with our form library to reduce this to zero delay. Target fix: February 2026.
Budget calculator (moving guide)
The interactive budget calculator on our moving guide page works with keyboard and screen readers, but the "estimated total" update is not always announced live. Users can still access the same information by reviewing the current values of the input fields. Target fix: March 2026.
Third-party embedded content
Some embedded third-party content — specifically map tiles from CARTO and OpenStreetMap — is outside our direct control and may not meet WCAG AA. We've documented these and provide text alternatives wherever possible.
Accessibility of our services
Accessibility also applies to how we perform moves. If you or a member of your household has a disability, we can accommodate the following at no additional charge:
- Communication preferences — all confirmations by email instead of phone, or phone instead of email, whichever works for you
- Additional time — crew can spend extra time explaining the process or walking through the home at a slower pace
- Service animals — our crews are trained to work respectfully around service animals and to avoid interfering with them
- Mobility equipment — we can move and reassemble mobility equipment (wheelchairs, hospital beds, lift chairs) with extra care and priority placement
- Medical equipment — CPAP machines, oxygen concentrators, and similar devices are labeled for priority unpacking
- Visual or hearing accommodation — crew can communicate by written note or text message if preferred
Please let your move coordinator know about any accommodation you need when you book. We do not charge extra for accessibility accommodations.
Feedback & accommodation
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our website and services. If you experience any barrier, we want to hear about it.
How to reach us
- Email: [email protected]
- Phone: (303) 893-8200 — ask for the accessibility lead
- Mail: Summit Moving Pros LLC, Attn: Accessibility, 745 Lipan Street, Denver, CO 80204
What to include
To help us respond as effectively as possible, please include:
- The URL or page name where you experienced the issue
- A description of what happened and what you expected
- The assistive technology and browser you were using, if applicable
- Your contact preference (email, phone, or both)
Our commitment
- We acknowledge every accessibility report within 2 business days
- We investigate and confirm or dispute the issue within 10 business days
- We fix confirmed issues within 30 days, or provide a workaround in the interim
- We provide an alternative way to access any service that is currently inaccessible until the fix is live
Third-party content
Our website includes embedded content and services from third parties. While we choose our vendors carefully, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of content we don't control. Current third-party services:
- Google Fonts — typography (self-hosted fallbacks used if blocked)
- CARTO & OpenStreetMap — map tiles on service area pages
- httpbin.org — used for demo form submissions; no user data is retained
If a third-party service becomes a barrier to your use of our site, contact us and we will provide the equivalent information through an accessible alternative (typically a phone call or a plain-text email).
Staff training
Accessibility is not just a website issue. Our team is trained to serve customers with disabilities respectfully and effectively.
- Move coordinators receive annual training on serving customers with disabilities, including phone and email communication best practices
- Office staff are trained to route accessibility requests to the accessibility lead within one business day
- Crew foremen receive training on working respectfully around service animals and mobility equipment
- Development and design staff participate in quarterly WCAG training and use automated accessibility testing in their workflow
